Pinup Style Origins

On this Veterans day, I would like to thank all of those who have served their country in the military. It is truly a dedication, commitment, and courageous act of honor.

In this article, I would like to discuss the history of pinup or classic pinup, shall we say. It has origins dating back to World War II. Pinup art became popular during this time, as a way to boost the troops morale. Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe were some of the firsts, as well as Dorothy Dandridge and Eartha Kitt.

The pinup makeup look was defined by red lips, rosy cheeks, black winged eye liner, and arched eyebrows. The hairstyles were wavy and accented with scarfs, while clothing highlighted the waist. It is truly a classic look and appeal that will always remain in style.
